About Me
I am the creator of Not So Sacred Geometry metal art. I believe there is something sensual about putting fire to metal and turning it molten. You can shape it, stretch it, forge it and fuse it. Creating sculptures and sharing them with the world is one of the most powerful feelings.
My journey in life has brought me to where I’ve become one of the most recognized artists creating wonderful, one-off pieces of metal-art. Since early childhood I’ve been interested in metal. My father was a geologist and educated her on earth formations and the beauty of nature. I was awed by rock layers, stratigraphy and volcanism. The red iron in rock formations made an early impression on me.
Life made me take a sharp right turn from my art background. I got into Real Estate. A by-product of this career choice has been getting to see thousands of homes inside and out. Again, my love of metalwork was stoked by the intrigue of metal.
About twelve years ago my husband of 26 years suffered from Alzheimer’s. He passed away in 2016. It was a dark time for me. Part of my healing was a trip to Europe. As I walked all over and back, I couldn’t help but notice all of the beautiful sculptures everywhere. I became inspired and realized I had to learn to weld.
I’ve been welding metal for more than 6 years. Coming out of the sad time, my expression was absolute simplicity. I create art by trusting my intuitive nature and keeping my sense of humor. My art brings out feelings of deep love, joy and fun.
I work at asymmetry, keeps things mismatched and off-balance. I call it “Not So Sacred Geometry.” My characters’ hands, feet and eyes never match the anatomy of known characters. They are realizations of my unique imagination. I decorate my characters with bright colors and bling them with sparkles.
My work is fabricated from scrap metal found throughout the world. I have connected with sculptor’s around the globe including, France, Great Britain, Russia, Belgium, Albania, Algeria, Georgia, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Chile, Argentina, India and Mexico where ideas and techniques are mutually shared and supported.
I also paint Mandala’s in my impression/interpretation from Asian mindfulness. My metal is of the earth and Mandalas are from the mind’s eye, a visual representation of the universe.
Each of my metal sculptures is a unique whimsical work of art inspired by my 15 years of experience as a professional animation artist. By sharing my art with you, I desire to bring out feelings of deep love, joy and fun, in your life.
